Places to eat in Haapsalu and Läänemaa

In the romantic small town of Haapsalu and small villages, hospitable people await you, surprising you with their sincerity and interest in history and culture. The guests who stayed here are remembered again and again with great respect.

Summer restaurant of Haapsalu Kuursaal

Haapsalu Kuursaal is a summer restaurant, which is the only one located in a historical original kuursaal in Estonia.

The menu of the summer restaurant of Haapsalu Kuursaal includes delicious locally-made pastries, as well as à la carte, group, and children’s menus. The restaurant also has a wide range of drinks, starting from wines and ending with light summery cocktails. We also offer a large selection of Estonian craft beers (both draught and bottled).

In the summer, the restaurant also offers a tasteful programme of cultural events with different musicians and DJs. There is a balcony overlooking the sea and we also have wheelchair access.

Von Gernet Café

When creating the Von Gernet Café on the Haapsalu promenade, we were inspired by the sea, architecture and history. We want every guest to feel the joy of life while on holiday and enjoy all our delicacies.

To create the menu, we first delved into the archives to learn about the food preferences of the 19th-century Tsarist court and the style of the cuisine at that time. Now, we can offer beloved classics and new dishes from French and Slavic cuisine. Of course, all dishes have been given a modern presentation.

Haapsalu is a highly regarded holiday destination with many festivals.

Come and enjoy luxury in a resort town!

Restaurant Vaga Mama

Vaga Mama is an Asian eatery in Haapsalu serving Chinese, Thai, and Nepalese dishes. Our tasty and spicy dishes are made by Nepalese chefs. You can buy food to go or order by phone.

The menu includes traditional Asian soups, noodles, various sauces, and seafood. Make sure to try the frog legs – not every restaurant offers them!

Talumehe Pub

Talumehe Pub is a catering establishment located in the beautiful old town of Haapsalu. The main menu includes delicious dishes made from fresh local produce. Special attention must be paid to the names of our dishes – try our Meh-eh-eh (like a goat bleating), Rabbit’s Lip and Bear’s Paw. We also offer catering for parties and groups.
We welcome families with children, and we have a separate children’s playroom. Our menu also includes a children’s menu.
Talumehe Pub is a genuine Estonian pub in the best sense of the word – you will always find pleasant company and cheerful laughter.

Cafe-Restaurant Hapsal Dietrich

Café Dietrich has an impressive history; the creators of the new Hapsal Dietrich café are two families whose passion and hobbies include cooking, enjoying food, love for little cafés and respect for the history and old architecture of Haapsalu, as well as for furniture from the First Republic. Therefore, the café features decorative elements from the First Republic era, and we have tried to decorate it as it might have looked a century ago.
