The festival will open on Saturday, May 30 at 2 pm on the front square of the cultural center.
Let’s follow the 2 + 2 rule!

The aim of the Haapsalu Graphic Design Festival (HGDF) 2020 is to promote the development of graphic design, promote the specialty and intensify professional communication with colleagues both in Estonia and abroad.

This year, Haapsalu Graphic Design Festival will exhibit three diverse exhibitions of graphic design:

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION EXHIBITION “ISIKUPÄRA/INDIVIDUALITY ’20”, THEME: CONTACT.

HAAPSALU CITY GALLERY.

The competition received a total of 358 works from 114 authors from the European Union, Russia, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine, China, Iran, Indonesia, USA, Canada and United Kingdom. A jury of professionals selected 84 final works for exhibition.

The poster collection presents the work of internationally recognized Chinese poster masters. Over the past 10 years, Chinese poster design has been successful in the world and has already proved to be a guide. The collection includes 30 authors from over China with a total of 84 posters, which represent a fresh poster approach that takes into account modern trends, but is based on cultural traditions.

TYPOGRAPHY EXHIBITION “LETTERS FROM TARTU”.

HAAPSALU CULTURAL CENTER.

The typefaces displayed at the exhibition were created by the students of the Pallas University of Applied Sciences in 2005–2019. The typography courses tutored by Mart Anderson focus on practical training and digital skills. All in all, more than 170 new typefaces have been created; of these, 42 typefaces by 36 authors have been chosen for display, demonstrating a great diversity of styles.
